Swim. Bike. Run. Winter Challenge
The 2020 Winter Challenge is for everyone. Regardless of ability, skill level, experience, athletes like you from around Central Ohio are invited to the challenge over a five-week period beginning February 14.
What is the Challenge? Each Thursday over a 6-week period a swim, bike, run + challenge will be posted. Athletes will have until the following Tuesday (by midnight) to complete the challenge and send in their results. While you can complete parts of the challenge in a single day, you have the 6 days to complete the entirety of that week’s challenge
How long does the Challenge run? For 6 weeks beginning Thursday February 6, ending Tuesday, March 17.
Is there a cost to participate? Yes, it cost $5.00 to participate. This small cost helps to offset administrative costs and gives you some accountability. Plus, if you complete all the challenges, you will receive a special discount.
How does scoring work? While this is mostly for fun, results will be posted and leader board updated after each week. Points awarded are based on your overall time or distance to complete the challenge relative to the rest of the athletes’ performance. Each weekly challenge is a little different but focuses on swim, bike, run & strength. Additionally, bonus points will be awarded if your week 6 challenge is completed during the Greenswell Indoor Triathlon March 14th (race entry not included in challenge).
Athletes will not be required to submit proof of their performance. This is integrity-based scoring.
What are the divisions? There won’t be age bracket winners but we will report results by the following age brackets for your own comparison. 14 & Under 15 – 19 20 – 29 30 – 39 40 – 49 50 – 59 60 - 69 70+
Are there prizes for Overall Awards? Everyone who completes every weekly challenge and submits their results for tracking will receive a $10 discount on their annual membership to TriColumbus. Additionally, the top male & female athlete will receive a $20 discount to a Greenswell Event of their choice.
